Rediscovering Piaget

As the birthplace of the renowned developmental psychologist Jean Piaget, Neuchâtel has a particular responsibility to continue teaching his pioneering work and revolutionary thinking. For instance, this involves investigating how the thinking of children of different ages differs qualitatively from that of adults. Professor Anne-Nelly Perret-Clermont, founder of the Institute of Psychology and Education at the University of Neuchâtel, has focused her research on the socio-cognitive and socio-material dimensions of thinking, with the concept of espaces de pensée – thinking spaces. She has explored how educational and professional environments can become productive spaces for learning, thinking, and generating new knowledge. The Institute of Psychology and Education is committed to continuing Piaget’s legacy by fostering an environment that nurtures creative thinking in education for children and adults in school, university, and volunteer or work settings.
